We are delighted to report that children are monitored daily in our school and have an assessment of progress every 6 weeks in maths and English to be sure they can make as much progress as possible. Children identified as struggling are given booster sessions through a tailored programme. We currently run over 40 interventions within our school. How this information is shared with the children is carefully managed to ensure we do not knock their confidence or self-esteem.

Every year group learns about different cultures and faiths as part of the Religious studies requirements. This information is on the school website on the newsletters under the curriculum tab. This is also on the letter sent home at the start of each term.

Moral issues are addressed daily in the school through classroom activities, playground squabbles and assemblies. This includes helping children to understand the difference between acceptable and unacceptable, right and wrong, fair and unfair, impact of our own actions on others and vice versa.

I am happy to report we have good teachers in our school. They are monitored heavily and supported in developing a range of skills and knowledge individual to their needs.

Homework was reorganised in September and homework/ communication books introduced. This was to ensure homework could be monitored very closely in school. We have found those children reading regularly and completing their homework are progressing at a much faster rate. All children in our school are given the expected levels of homework for their age range. If your child does not bring their homework home please put your concern in the communication book for us to see and we can ensure it comes to you.

Transition for our school to the next school is supported by the accepting High School. This includes visits for Maths, English or Sports events.

In school we do not wait until the following school year or the last day of term for children to find out about their new classes. We always do this the week before the end of term and children get to spend a whole day with their new teacher where possible before they start in that class.

Thank you again for your responses. We received just over 150 responses. For your information where it says 1% - that was one adult, we rounded the score up to ensure that it was a true reflection on what the parents said.

If you have any further questions or comments please do pop in to the main office and place them in the parent view box.

Regards

Mrs H Madsen

"Read more one to one with the children"

"Nothing! Everything is great at this school, thank you"

"More homework"

Thank you for your feedback, this is what we have done to act upon your suggestions:

1) Introduced school planners that record spellings, reading, homework all in one place and improve communication with parents.

2) Set clear guidelines for homework expectations with the staff.

3) All children have guided reading sessions - teachers do not hear children 1 to 1 as it takes approximately ten minutes to hear a child read and in a class of thirty this would take 5 hours a day. Instead focussed group work where the adults listen to a group of children each day takes place. Therefore each child reads out loud to an adult at least once a week.
