Junior Road Safety Officers

Now it is getting darker in the evenings, it is important that we keep ourselves safe.

Here are our Junior Road Safety Officers 5 tips to help keep you safe:

1) Wearing brightly coloured clothing helps others, especially drivers, to see you when you are heading to and from school. Bright clothes work well during the day and dusk, but not at night.

2) It is advised that you wear reflective gear when out and about in the dark,  to make sure that you can be seen by car headlights. If you wear dark clothes, you are hard to spot. This reflective gear could be vests, sashes or wristbands.

3) Accessorize! Accessorize! Accessorize! Even small items such as reflective keyrings, armbands and stickers help to keep you safe.

4) It is the law to have clean working lights on your bike - a white one on the front and a red one on the back (along with a red reflector). You could also add spoke reflectors.

5) Being bright isn't the only way to stay safe - if you are out and about at night, it is advisable to use routes and crossings that are well lit.

AND REMEMBER - ALWAYS USE THE GREEN CROSS CODE

BE BRIGHT BE SEEN
