Over the weekend Daisy and Amelia competed in a National baton twirling competition in Great Yarmouth in 2 team events. They came 3rd in a group Pom pom dance & 1st in their twirl team, making them National champions! What an amazing achievement! Well done!!

4HL had a fantastic trip to Broad Oak Farm! The children learnt lots about growing crops, milled their own flour and used it to make dough. They also saw lots of animals and got to pet goats and chicks, and fed acorns to pigs! 🐷🐥🐐

Well done to our two Year 3 football teams for playing some great football at the ALT North Suffolk Cup football tournament which was held at Red Oak last week. Our B Team demonstrated some great teamwork to finish third in the B League to win the B league bronze medals. Our A Team went unbeaten to finish joint top of the A league, gaining the exact same overall goals and points as the Grove A Team which meant that Red Oak A and Grove A were crowned joint champions of the A League for 2025. 🤩⚽️🥇🏆

Year 3 children explored how sedimentary rocks are formed by using three different colours of salt dough to represent layers of sediment. Through squishing, stacking, and shaping, they discovered how rocks are built up over time — one colourful layer at a time! A brilliant blend of science and creativity. Well done!

📚✨ Looking to the Future! ✨📚 As part of our history topic, the children took a creative leap forward in time! Using an age-progression filter, each child got a glimpse of their future selves — wrinkles, grey hairs and all! 👵👴 They then imagined how they might change as they grow older!. 💭🌟 It was a brilliant mix of history, self-reflection, and a lot of giggles! 😄

Well done to our super student Freddie who was recently awarded the disability awareness badge at Cubs. Freddie did lots of work to earn his badge, including carrying out research on disabilities, learning how to play disability sports and learning how to care and help people with disabilities. Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed the last two literacy lessons. They have planned and written 500 word stories inspired by the BBCs '500 Words'. They enjoyed writing and sharing the stories with their class. We enjoyed listening to stories about a cheetah called Bob who couldn't run, a skateboarder who flies into space and a boy who brings a dog into class that saves the world!

Well done to our super student Summer who has been selected to attend the Female Pathway Programme at Norwich City Football Club. Summer has been training very hard at the Norwich City Development Centre and she even got to train with one of the England Lionesses! 🥊🥊Well done to our 30 students who took part in our after school Key Stage 2 boxing club! All of the children trained really hard. An extra well done to Bruce, Eden and Elijah who were awarded the boxers of the week champions’ belt for demonstrating great effort and determination!💪 🤩’

Dear Parents and Carers, I am looking forward to working with you alongside the amazing staff of Red Oak Primary School to provide the best educational opportunities for your children. I am an experienced leader who has remained child focused and this was the reason why I chose Red Oak and The Active Learning Trust as my next headship. It was a robust recruitment process and I feel very lucky to have been appointed. Alongside other school leaders, that you already know I will be on the school gates, plus available via an appointment booked at the office to talk to you. My focus as you would expect is on the children, learning their names, their interests and how best to support them with their learning. I’ll suggest some dates in the next few weeks for group coffee and cake catch ups, so that if you wish you can pop in to meet informally and start to get to know me. Well done to our Beach Running Eco Club students who have run many miles and cleaned lots of rubbish from the beach in the past few months! Our students were rewarded last week with an ice cream for all of their hard work!

Last month, our Year 4 students had a great time learning about tourism as part of their geography fieldtrip learning. Our students walked along Lowestoft beach looking at land use and searched for tourist attractions and then they had a wonderful tour of the Hotel Victoria where business owner Adam Greenfield taught our students about the importance of the beach, hotels and tourism for our local economy. Thank you to Adam and his super team of staff at the Hotel Victoria for teaching our students so much about the hotel industry! #hotelvictorialowestoft

Dear Parents and Carers, After thirteen deeply rewarding years as Headteacher, the time has come for me to say farewell. It has been the greatest privilege of my professional life to lead this wonderful school and to work in partnership with you in nurturing, guiding, and celebrating your children. Together, we have witnessed incredible growth—not just in academic achievement, but in kindness, resilience, and community spirit. I have been constantly inspired by the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our pupils, and the unwavering support from you, our parents. We have achieved over 20 prestigious accolades during the years, quality marks, charter marks and exemplary levels in inclusion, mental health, behaviour and a range of subjects. My vision for us to be a school of sporting excellence has been so excellently supported by the staff and fully embraced. The endless success is down to such dedication of our highly skilled staff. Our pupils have grown and flourished, and standards have risen, we have moved from the bottom 5% nationally to the top 5%. As I step into a new chapter, I carry with me countless memories and immense pride in all we have achieved, the recognition and awards the school has rightly earned and a true warmth that Red Oak is the heart of Kirkley. Thank you for your trust, your encouragement, and for being such an integral part of this journey.
