At Red Oak Primary School we say NO! to bullying

The 13th November - 17th November 2023 is Anti-Bullying week This nationwide event is organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and is intended to raise awareness of the issue of bullying among children, especially in schools.

Schools across the country will think of ways in which they can stop bullying. Here at Red Oak Primary School we have our own Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.

Children apply to become Anti-Bullying Ambassadors. They are easily recognisable around school or at playtimes and lunchtimes by their anti-bullying badges. Children at our school know that they can find one of the ambassadors and they will help them.

What can Anti-Bullying Ambassadors do?

• Listen to children's problems or worry's
• Walk children to somewhere safe
• Help tell an adult what has happened
• If you are worried about telling an adult yourself the ambassadors can tell them for you
• Look after those being bullied and offer friendship and support
• Make sure other children are happy

What can't they do?

• They are trained not to argue or fight with bullies
• They are not allowed to tell off or shout at bullies
• They can't make the bullying STOP all by themselves...but they can do their best to reduce it happening in our school and help those who are getting bullied

We can ALL help to STOP bullying in our school

• If you see somebody being unkind, tell them to stop! - bullies don't like a crowd
• Tell an adult for example a dinner lady or teacher and they can deal with bully

Remember - standing and watching bullies is actually helping them - Don't get involved!
